Derek is 54 and married.
He is Assistant Secretary of the Prison Officers Association with responsibility for Scotland.

A former member of the Labour Party.

Derek grew increasingly disillusioned as Labour policies mimicked the Tories, the invasion of Iraq and their treatment of Scotland.
With the EU encroaching on many aspects of Scottish life, he felt that the Free Scotland Party stance of withdrawal from the EU and UK was the party for him.
Among his hobbies are motor cycling and, inevitably, politics.
He said, “after this election, I may well be the only Hell’s Angel in the Scottish Parliament!”
