SNP fit for purpose?
Jim Fairlie has hit out at the SNP over reports in the Scotland on Sunday that the SNP has dropped Independence. He said, "the SNP are settling down to devolution, the question is have they settled for devolution with plans to 'park' Independence?"
"If the SNP is no longer about the restoration of sovereignty to the people of Scotland, what is the purpose of the party? Surely, not to keep the Lib Dems in power? Is the SNP any longer fit for purpose? They were the standard bearer for Independence for Scotland but they have lost their way."
"The Lib Dems will not allow a referendum on Independence yet the SNP seem determined to go to bed with them. Do the Lib dems make SNP policy? SNP voters should be aware that there are other parties in the Scottish Parliamentary elections standing for Independence. The Free Scotland Party is one of them but Free scotland has no intention of dropping Independence."
"Under Alex Salmond's leadership, the SNP has gone from being THE party of independence in Scotland, to being a party which is selling out on its very raison d’etre, has supinely accepted every progressive surrender of sovereignty to the EU, almost without reservation, with the SNP committing itself to allowing either London or Frankfurt to determine monetary policy in an “independent” Scotland, without any consideration of placing that responsibility where it rightly belongs, in Scotland’s capital. What kind of Independence is that?"
