Trident vote: Scotland ignored

"The British parliament votes for Trident by an overwhelming majority but a majority of MPs representing Scottish constituencies, 33 out of 59, vote against which highlights the impotence of Scotland trapped in Britain," said Jim Fairlie, Free Scotland candidate in Perth and number one on the Free Scotland list for the Mid Scotland and Fife region.

He continued, "Scotland, a nation of five million people, can hope to make little impact in a parliament dominated by our much larger neighbour. This was the case in the Trident vote and it has been and will continue to be the same, Scotland can and is ignored at Westminster. It is time for voters in Scotland to do something about this democratic deficit."

"Scotland should have a government in Scotland elected by and answerable only to the wishes and aspirations of voters in Scotland. The Trident vote in Westminster makes the case for Scottish independence."
